A Case for Justice

This page shares the journey of my legal battle that began as a simple complaint filed with the Attorney General's office and evolved over a year into a federal civil rights case against judicial officials in District Court, Court of Appeals, and the Office of Administrative Hearings working alongside opposing counsel and my previous landlord. As of August 2025, the complaint includes 39 claims of constitutional violations. I haven't been able to name all the parties in my complaint because the NC Court of Appeals refuses to release the names of the judges who ruled on the alleged violations.

There is a timeline below where you can click on each of the events and view the documents associated with it. The documents have not been altered other than to remove emails, phone numbers, certificates of service (unless they pertain to an argument), my medical history, signatures, logos, and repeated emails in replies. On some documents, I've added direct notes to clarify the record, while others speak for themselves.

I have been representing myself in these proceedings, which has presented its own challenges and opened my eyes to the fact that what we perceive as a fair and impartial tribunal is in reality very subjective. I have contacted multiple channels for answers and support and continue to face deflection or am straight up ignored, as you will see below. I will try to update this site and respond to any messages as quickly as I can.

NOTE: Nothing on this page constitutes legal advice. These are my personal experiences, positions, and filings related to my case only. Timeline of Events

Below is the timeline of events based on my judicial logs, with the most recent event at the top. I’ve compiled everything so you can see just how much I’ve had to manage on my own while working full time. You can use the filter options below to view entries based on your preference.

I’ll do my best to keep this updated, but as things continue to progress, the federal court increases the burden it places on me while revoking fair access for electronic filing without just cause. This requires me to take over 2 hours just to file in person during working hours or pay printing and mailing fees if I can’t take time off from work.

I also have a full timeline log on Google Sheets that I compiled to help stay organized, which will remain up to date and you can view any of the cases online through the court and Pacer RECAP.

*For some reason, my OAH contested case doesn’t show up on the public filings, which is case number 25HRC00824.

One Last Chance
I decided to ALJ Turrentine one more chance to do the right thing and uphold the oath she took as a AL judge.

Fighting Against a Brick Wall
I filed a supplement to my Rule 59(e) motion exposing improper disclosure of my ex parte TRO, objected to Magistrate Auld’s retaliatory denial of e-filing access in my § 1983 case, challenged his continued involvement despite conflict, and completed proper service—only to be mocked by court staff and further obstructed at every step.

No Rest in Retaliation
Magistrate Judge Auld denied all my pending motions based on manufactured procedural flaws, disregarded my sworn verification as evidence, and the court then altered the docket to justify his authority after they were issued—prompting me to file a Rule 72(a) objection the next day to preserve judicial integrity and access to court.

No Legal Ruling
ALJ Turrentine denied my Rule 59(e) motion on false procedural grounds without addressing its substance, showing she hadn’t read it or recognized it as a good faith opportunity to correct her prior errors.

Third Time's a Charm
On May 30, I resubmitted my Record on Appeal with a Notice of Objection after two improper rejections—despite full compliance with Rule 11(b)—due to Judge Osteen’s failure to rule on my Rule 59(e) motion, and after this third attempt, the record was finally accepted.

Rinse and Repeat
On May 27, Judge Osteen denied my TRO for a second time in my 1983 claim. This time he claimed the harm I stated was too vague and failed to rule on the release of the names - again. This prompted me to file a detailed 59(e) motion.

Broken Record of Injustice
On May 26 and 27, Magistrate Judge Auld denied my ADA-based motion for electronic filing access and my motion for his recusal using manufactured procedural excuses and ignoring the substance of my claims—revealing a retaliatory pattern of bias rather than impartial judicial review.

Deja Vu
I had to refile my 1983 claim hoping the geographical distant would insure a fair and impartial court. I also had to submit a motion for alternative service in my other case as Anna continues to evade the summons.

A Smear Campaign
ALJ Turrentine issued an order after waiting 45 days dismissing my petitioned contest case against the NCHRC that was truly just a smear campaign so I won't appeal.

A Hollow Ruling and Judicial Complaint
Judge Dever denied my TRO with a boilerplate dismissal when it was truly due to personal connections that I later discovered adding on to the problems with the North Carolina judicial system.

1983
After the Court of Appeals dismissed my motion and rejected my Record on Appeal without explanation, I uncovered longstanding ties between Soar and Yopp that supported a pattern of procedural favoritism—prompting me to file a § 1983 complaint in federal court naming them, several judges, and unidentified appellate officials whose concealed, defective rulings and administrative interference fall outside judicial immunity.

Concealment of the Record
Multiple concealed and improperly served court orders—including a TRO denial and a strike of my entire appellate record—were issued without notice or legal basis, while the Court of Appeals simultaneously granted an untimely extension to the opposing party, raising serious concerns of coordinated procedural manipulation.

Reading Between the Lines
I was confronted with escalating obstruction—from a hostile call with Clerk Eugene Soar refusing to disclose judge names, to improper ex parte outreach by opposing counsel, to the court mischaracterizing my Ex Parte TRO as delayed due to my own inaction—all pointing to deeper procedural manipulation and institutional bias.

Judicial Stonewalling
Defendants' attorney, David Yopp, files an improper motion in the Court of Appeals requesting to block me from filing my record on appeal. In addition to filing a motion to strike, the Court of Appeals engaged in some unusual and concerning activity itself.

Hearing on Review
The January 23 hearing, which should have been a turning point toward progress, instead exposed a pattern of procedural violations, judicial misconduct, and prejudicial delays that not only derailed my case but ultimately forced me into an interlocutory appeal after exhausting every reasonable effort to resolve the issues.

Misinterpretation of Justice
The DOJ finally responded to my summary judgment motion with mischaracterizations, dismissive arguments, and a refusal to acknowledge clear harm—proving not only how deeply broken the system is, but how easily justice is denied when those tasked with upholding it refuse to take responsibility.
